Woodward to shift California aerospace output to South Carolina
Woodward, Inc. (NASDAQ: WWD) announced plans to move aerospace controls production from its Santa Clarita, California, facility to a new manufacturing campus in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with operations expected to cease at the California site no later than December 2027.
Military fixed-wing and rotorcraft flight control actuation production will transfer to the Spartanburg facility, which is currently under construction and expected to become operational in the summer of 2027. The Spartanburg site will also produce Airbus A350 spoiler actuation systems, as previously announced.
Separately, Woodward has agreed to sell a smaller group of legacy commercial rotorcraft, land systems, and business jet products manufactured in Santa Clarita, along with the campus itself. That transaction is expected to close in fiscal year 2027.

The transition is expected to affect approximately 400 roles at the Santa Clarita facility, with phased changes planned through the move.
"We don't make decisions like this without recognizing what they mean for the people affected. Our team in Santa Clarita has contributed to Woodward for 17 years, and we are committed to supporting them through the transition with respect," said Shawn McLevige, President of Woodward's Aerospace segment.
Woodward is headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado, and describes itself as a provider of aerospace and industrial control solutions.
