Snap unveils SPECS AR glasses with AI service and carrier deals

September 17, 2026 5:58 AM

Snap Inc. (NYSE: SNAP) announced a range of new features, partnerships, and pricing details for SPECS, its augmented reality glasses, according to a company press release.

The glasses, priced at $2,195 with a $200 refundable deposit, are available for pre-order and are expected to begin shipping later this fall in the United States, United Kingdom, and France. Beginning October 1, consumers can try the device at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles.

Snap introduced SPECS Intelligence, an AI service designed to work across iPhone, Mac, and SPECS AR glasses. The service is built to anticipate user needs rather than wait for prompts. A preview is available on iOS for U.S. users aged 18 and older, while a waitlist is open for invitation-only Mac access.

The glasses support a range of applications including real-time translation in 60 languages, AR navigation, 3D shopping powered by the Shopify Catalog, and a virtual display for streaming from YouTube and HBO Max. Snap announced a partnership with HBO Max tied to an upcoming Harry Potter series, as well as interactive sports experiences with the NBA and WNBA.

For enterprise use, Snap is working with Salesforce, Amazon Web Services, Nvidia, and others to deploy the glasses in retail, factory, and field environments.

A separate SPECS Charging Case with Cellular, which provides four additional charges and cellular connectivity, is available in a bundle for $2,395. In the U.S., Snap partnered with Verizon to offer financing over 36 months, with connected wearable data plans starting at $10 per month for Verizon customers and $20 per month for others. Carrier partnerships with Orange in France and EE in the UK were also announced, with pricing details to follow.

SPECS is developed by Specs Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Snap Inc. The device does not use facial recognition and does not continuously record audio, video, or photos. An external LED lights up when recording is active.
