Arlo launches Secure 7 service with AI threat detection features

September 16, 2026 8:05 AM

Arlo Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ARLO) announced Arlo Secure 7, an updated version of its smart home security subscription service, on Sept. 16, 2026. The release introduces two new AI-powered features — Threat Assessment and Arlo Summary — along with a new 24/7 video recording plan.

Threat Assessment is designed to identify high-risk events such as break-ins, fire, armed threats, or theft, and automatically trigger a response based on the severity of the situation. Responses can include activating a camera's siren or spotlight, or contacting a live monitoring agent for emergency dispatch. Critical push notifications are set to bypass mute and do-not-disturb settings on users' devices. The feature is available on the Smart Secure and Ultra Secure plans.

Arlo Summary generates a plain-language recap of video activity from the previous 24 hours, filtering out routine events and surfacing only notable clips in the Arlo app feed.

The company also introduced the Arlo Ultra Secure Plan, which offers continuous 24/7 video recording for up to three cameras, with 30-day storage. Support for unlimited cameras is described as forthcoming. Three plan tiers are now available: Smart Aware, Smart Secure, and Ultra Secure.

New features are set to roll out to existing Arlo Secure Early Warning System customers over the following month from the announcement date. A one-month trial of Arlo Secure is included with select Arlo product purchases, after which a paid subscription is required for premium features.

"We saw an industry-wide need for sharper insights, faster awareness, and proactive escalation to reduce response time when consumers need it most," said Matthew McRae, Chief Executive Officer at Arlo.
