Cisco expands Splunk AI to on-premises users via NVIDIA partnership

September 15, 2026 10:30 AM

Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) announced a series of updates to its Splunk platform at the Splunk .conf event in Denver, including expanded on-premises AI capabilities, new observability tools, and a multi-year product development agreement with AWS.

The company introduced the Cisco AI POD for Splunk, the newest configuration within the Cisco Secure AI Factory with NVIDIA. The product brings Splunk AI features to customers running Splunk Enterprise in on-premises, private cloud, and air-gapped environments, using Cisco infrastructure, NVIDIA accelerated computing, and a Kubernetes-based architecture. Partners bitsIO, Wipro, and World Wide Technology are available to assist with deployment. Customers can self-host select AI models, including the Cisco Deep Time Series Model, Google Gemma 4, and OpenAI GPT-OSS 20B, with NVIDIA Nemotron open models planned for coming months.

"Enterprises need to bring AI where their data lives, especially when security and sovereignty requirements require critical workloads to stay on-premises," said Justin Boitano, Vice President of Enterprise AI at NVIDIA.

Cisco also announced a Tokenomics solution within Splunk Agent Observability, which tracks AI token spending and coding agent usage — including tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor — in real time. The feature will also forecast consumption patterns using the Cisco Deep Time Series Model. Splunk Agent Observability, previously available only on-premises, is now also offered through Splunk Observability Cloud and Cisco Cloud Control.

Additional security updates include new capabilities for the Splunk Agentic SOC Workforce, enhancements to Exposure Analytics covering broader asset visibility and historical change tracking, and new tiers for Splunk Enterprise Security — Essentials and Premier.

Splunk and AWS formalized a multi-year agreement to co-develop security products targeting AI-driven threats, combining Splunk's data platform with AWS cloud infrastructure. The companies said the work will focus on detection, investigation, and response capabilities.

Jeetu Patel, President and Chief Product Officer at Cisco, said the goal is to let customers "move faster to put AI to work in their business with confidence and control" by running Splunk AI on infrastructure they already operate.
