Credo launches 224G-based 1.6T optical transceivers for AI networks

September 15, 2026 9:05 AM

Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: CRDO) announced a new family of 224G-based ZeroFlap optical transceivers designed for AI network infrastructure, according to a company statement.

The new transceivers combine Credo's 224G per-lane optical digital signal processor with its Kfir200 silicon photonics-based photonic integrated circuit and its PILOT diagnostic and analytics platform. The products deliver 1.6T aggregate bandwidth across 2xDR4, 2xFR4, and DR8 form factors.

The launch extends Credo's ZeroFlap reliability architecture, previously available at 800G port speeds, to 1.6T. The company said these are the first products to pair its field-deployed DSP with its Kfir200 silicon photonics circuit.

The PILOT platform provides continuous optical link health monitoring, real-time telemetry streaming, and proactive detection of fiber issues. The system supports SONiC and other switch operating systems and is compatible with OCP-standard link health reporting.

"Getting an AI cluster online—and keeping it running—starts with a stable network," said Ameet Suri, VP of Product at Credo. "ZeroFlap Optics constantly monitor every link with built-in telemetry that detects warning signs to notify operators and avoid costly link flaps."

Scott Wilkinson, Lead Analyst for Optical Components at Cignal AI, said in the statement that over 11 million 1.6T optical transceivers are forecast to ship in 2026, with more than double that number expected in 2027.

The transceivers include bidirectional remote telemetry, remote firmware update capability, non-volatile event logging, and are available in both integrated heat sink and riding heat sink variants to support switch-side and server-side installations.
