DoorDash to acquire Grubhub Campus Dining for $300M in Wonder deal

September 15, 2026 9:01 AM

DoorDash (NASDAQ: DASH) and Wonder announced a strategic partnership that includes DoorDash's $300 million acquisition of Wonder's Grubhub Campus Dining business and a $125 million investment in Wonder's Series D funding round.

Grubhub Campus Dining, formerly known as Tapingo, operates at more than 450 colleges and universities, allowing students to order meals through a mobile app or kiosks and pay using campus dining dollars. DoorDash said it intends to expand the service beyond college campuses to stadiums, hotels and other venues following the close of the transaction, which is expected by the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory review and customary closing conditions.

DoorDash's $125 million investment joins Wonder's previously announced $650 million Series D round from July, bringing additional capital to fund Wonder's physical expansion and development of technology, robotics and artificial intelligence. Wonder currently operates 157 locations across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, a number it says has more than quadrupled since the start of 2025. The company plans to open its first Texas locations in January 2027.

Wonder founder and CEO Marc Lore said in a statement that the partnership allows the company to continue investing in the technology and infrastructure needed to build "a fully autonomous food system that can plan, produce and deliver personalized meals at scale."

Tony Xu, co-founder and CEO of DoorDash, said adding Grubhub Campus Dining to its platform would bring "greater choice and convenience to college students while streamlining operations and reducing friction for universities."

J.P. Morgan Securities served as exclusive financial advisor to Wonder, while RBC Capital Markets advised DoorDash.
