Honeywell deploys access control system for U.S. Marine Corps

September 15, 2026 8:01 AM

Honeywell Technologies (NASDAQ: HON) has deployed its LenelS2 OnGuard access control system across U.S. Marine Corps barracks facilities worldwide, according to a company press release. The program is managed by the U.S. Navy's Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic team and supports the Marine Corps' Barracks 2030 modernization initiative.

The system replaced a fragmented mix of standalone locks that required manual, on-site credential management. The new platform uses a government-provided cloud instance to centrally manage access permissions and monitor activity across installations. It is designed to support more than 70,000 locks.

Marines use their Common Access Card as the primary credential, with mobile credentials being introduced as an additional option. The platform meets Department of Defense cybersecurity and compliance requirements.

Program leaders estimate the modernization has reduced labor costs by approximately 80% and material costs by approximately 60% compared with previous methods, attributed to reduced wiring requirements and lower on-site infrastructure needs.

The program began with a pilot at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, before expanding to additional locations. It received FORUM's Disruptive Tech Award in March 2026 and the 2026 Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association's Distinguished Award for Excellence in Emerging Technology.

"Working alongside the U.S. Marine Corps and our partners, we have delivered a modern access control solution that enhances security, strengthens cybersecurity posture and provides a consistent, reliable experience for Marines around the world," said Ewa Pigna, president of Security and Access Solutions for Honeywell Technologies Building Automation.
