Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) has launched the Agilent S540MD Slide Scanner System in the United States following FDA clearance, according to a company statement. The whole slide imaging digital scanner is designed for high-volume pathology laboratories.

The S540MD offers capacity for up to 540 slides, continuous loading, and standard rack compatibility. The system includes automated scanning modes and advanced tissue detection. The scanner is the Agilent-branded version of the Hamamatsu NanoZoomer S540MD Slide Scanner System.

The U.S. launch follows the January 2026 introduction of the same system in select European markets. The product is now available in the United States and 14 European countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Spain, among others.

Majken Nielsen, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Clinical Diagnostics Division, said: "By combining advanced scanning technology with Agilent's pathology expertise, we are providing laboratories with an integrated experience that supports their evolving diagnostic and workflow needs."

Agilent reported revenue of $6.95 billion in fiscal year 2025 and employs approximately 18,000 people worldwide.
