Sigma Lithium begins trading on Australian Securities Exchange
Sigma Lithium Corporation (NASDAQ: SGML) commenced trading on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: SAU) on Sept. 3, 2026, under the ticker symbol "SAU," according to a company statement.
The ASX approved Sigma Lithium as a Foreign Exempt Issuer, with official quotation of its CHESS Depositary Interests beginning at 12:00 p.m. AEST. Each CDI represents one fully paid common share at a 1:1 ratio. The company's shares will continue trading on Nasdaq and the TSX Venture Exchange.
Sigma Lithium operates the Grota do Cirilo lithium production complex in Brazil's Jequitinhonha Valley, which the company describes as the world's fifth-largest industrial-mineral lithium production complex, citing data from the U.S. Geological Survey. The company has a current nameplate production capacity of 330,000 tonnes of lithium oxide concentrate annually and has initiated a Phase 2 expansion targeting 580,000 tonnes, with a Phase 3 expansion planned to reach 830,000 tonnes.
Co-Chair and CEO Ana Cabral said the company already has a capital markets presence in the United States, Canada, and Brazil, and that the ASX listing is intended to broaden access to investors in the Asia Pacific region. "Australia is home to one of the world's most sophisticated investor communities for lithium and critical minerals," Cabral said.
The ASX listing is structured as a Foreign Exempt Listing, meaning Sigma Lithium is subject to its primary listing obligations on Nasdaq rather than full ASX compliance requirements.
