FirstEnergy names Jon Dormo VP of generation project development
FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) has appointed Jon Dormo as Vice President of Generation Project Development, according to a company press release.
Dormo will report to Chris Beam, FirstEnergy's President of West Virginia and Maryland, and will lead efforts to plan and develop new power generation projects. He will work with internal teams, community leaders, regulators, and other stakeholders.
Dormo brings nearly 20 years of experience in the energy industry, covering engineering, construction, operations, project management, and strategic planning. He most recently served as Managing Director of Projects at American Electric Power (AEP), where he led siting and construction of AEP's new generation capital plan. His background includes gas generation, wind and solar facilities, substations, and other electric infrastructure projects.
Dormo holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University and an MBA from Capital University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and a certified Project Management Professional.
The appointment coincides with a pending regulatory decision on the proposed Maidsville Energy Center. FirstEnergy subsidiaries Mon Power and Potomac Edison are seeking approval from the West Virginia Public Service Commission for a 1,200-megawatt combined-cycle natural gas plant near Fort Martin Power Station in Maidsville, along with 70 megawatts of solar generation across Preston, Hancock, and Tucker counties. A decision from the commission is expected later this year.
FirstEnergy serves more than 6 million customers across Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Maryland, and New York, and operates approximately 24,000 miles of transmission lines.
