Canadian Pacific Kansas City (NYSE: CP) moved 2.54 million metric tonnes (MMT) and 26,051 carloads of Canadian grain and grain products in August 2026, setting a new monthly record for the railway. The previous August records for both tonnage and carloads were set in August 2020, according to a company statement.

The August figures cover the first four weeks of the 2026-2027 crop year, which began Aug. 1, 2026.

CPKC also reported that it closed the 2025-2026 crop year with a new annual record of 30.66 MMT of Canadian grain transported, surpassing the previous annual record set during the 2020-2021 crop year. Monthly records were set during that period in January, February, April, May, and June.

Across its combined U.S. and Canada network, CPKC moved 4.86 MMT and 50,396 carloads of grain in August, which the company said was a combined monthly tonnage record.

On July 31, 2026, CPKC released its 2026-2027 Grain Service Outlook Report, detailing its service plans for grain customers during the upcoming crop year.
