ICE reports record August volume in agriculture and financials

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE) reported its August 2026 trading volume and revenue statistics, showing total average daily volume (ADV) up 14% year-over-year and open interest (OI) up 19% year-over-year.

Agriculture and metals posted record total ADV, rising 92% year-over-year, with OI up 52% year-over-year. Sugar set a record ADV, up 203% year-over-year, and OI up 51% year-over-year, including a record OI of 2.5 million lots on August 31. Cocoa ADV rose 85% year-over-year, cotton ADV rose 63%, and coffee OI rose 5%.

Total energy ADV increased 13% year-over-year, with OI up 6%. Within energy, Brent crude ADV rose 21% and gasoil ADV rose 20%. Total natural gas ADV climbed 17% year-over-year, with TTF gas ADV up 29% and Asia gas ADV up 20%, the latter recording OI of 275,000 lots on August 13.

Total financials ADV rose 7% year-over-year, with OI up 38%, including a record futures OI of 16.8 million lots on August 31. Interest rates ADV increased 8%, with record futures OI of 14.4 million lots on August 31. Euribor futures OI reached a record 5.7 million lots on August 31, while SONIA OI rose 68% year-over-year. MSCI equity index ADV rose 22%, and NYSE equity options ADV increased 36% year-over-year.
