Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) has opened its first restaurant in Asia, located at 423 Gangnam-daero, Seocho-gu, Seoul, South Korea, in partnership with Sangmidang Holdings, formerly known as SPC Group.

The two companies are operating the Seoul location through a joint venture called S&C Restaurants Holdings. Sangmidang Holdings, a South Korea-based food company with more than 80 years of history and approximately 7,000 locations worldwide, will handle ingredient sourcing, cooking methods, team training and restaurant operations.

Chipotle plans to open two additional locations in South Korea by the end of 2026, followed by its first restaurant in Singapore in 2027. The company said South Korea will serve as a reference market for broader expansion across Asia.

"Asia represents a significant growth opportunity for Chipotle, with strong demand for variety, convenience and real food prepared fresh and served fast," said Scott Boatwright, Chief Executive Officer of Chipotle.

The Seoul menu includes burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas and salads. Chipotle states its menu contains no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

As of June 30, 2026, Chipotle operated more than 4,200 restaurants across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the Middle East.
