Rain Enhancement Technologies signs fog-testing deal with CHP
Rain Enhancement Technologies Holdco, Inc. (NASDAQ: RAIN) has entered into a Letter of Agreement with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to test its fog mitigation technology at a state-operated facility, according to a company press release.
The one-year agreement, running through August 2027, allows the Naples, Florida-based company to place, operate, and monitor its FREA (Fog Removal by Electrical Activity) system at the Caltrans Dynamic Test Facility (CDTF) at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento, California. The goal is to collect field data on the system's ability to reduce fog density and improve visibility.
RET will supply its own equipment, personnel, and insurance coverage. Testing will be scheduled around CHP Academy training and Caltrans testing priorities.
FREA is described as an extension of the company's existing Weather Enhancement Technology Array (WETA) platform, which uses ionization-based technology for rainfall and snowpack generation.

"This agreement gives us access to a world-class testing facility alongside an agency that knows better than almost anyone how dangerous low-visibility conditions can be," said Randy Seidl, CEO of Rain Enhancement Technologies.
CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee said the patrol is "committed to exploring innovative technologies that have the potential to make California's roadways safer," adding that testing in a controlled environment allows the agency to evaluate the technology's potential.
RET said it will share additional details on its fog mitigation program as testing progresses.
