Investing.com -- Volkswagen's management board intends to recommend shutting down four manufacturing facilities in Germany over an eight-year period starting in 2031, according to a report from WirtschaftsWoche on Tuesday.

The closures would begin with the Emden and Zwickau plants in 2031, the German business publication reported, citing a supervisory board document. The Hanover facility would follow in 2032, with the Neckarsulm plant scheduled for closure in 2034.

The supervisory board is scheduled to convene on Friday.
