Greenbrier names Brian Comstock as next CEO as Tekorius retires
The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. (NYSE: GBX) announced that President and Chief Executive Officer Lorie Tekorius will retire effective January 6, 2027, following the company's Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Brian Comstock, currently Executive Vice President and President of The Americas, will succeed her as President and CEO.
Tekorius joined Greenbrier in 1995 and held a series of roles including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and President and Chief Operating Officer, before being named CEO and President in 2022. She will not stand for re-election as a Class III director at the 2027 Annual Meeting and is expected to provide transition services after her departure date. Comstock is expected to join Greenbrier's Board of Directors upon her exit.
Comstock has more than 45 years of railroad industry experience, including nearly three decades at Greenbrier. In his current role, he oversees operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. Before joining Greenbrier, he held senior roles at Transco Industries, Transco Railway Products and Trinity Industries. He serves on the boards of several Greenbrier affiliates, including Greenbrier GIMSA, Greenbrier Maxion, GBX Leasing and the Supervisory Board of Greenbrier Europe.
Board Chair Admiral Thomas B. Fargo (USN Retired) said the board conducted a "thoughtful and disciplined succession process focused on ensuring continuity of leadership while positioning Greenbrier for future success."
Greenbrier, headquartered in Lake Oswego, Oregon, designs, builds and markets freight railcars in North America, Europe and Brazil, and owns a lease fleet of approximately 20,600 railcars.
