BMS presents five-year Camzyos data for heart condition at ESC

Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE: BMY) presented results from the EXPLORER-LTE cohort of the MAVA-LTE study at the European Society of Cardiology Congress 2026 in Munich, Germany, showing sustained efficacy and safety of Camzyos (mavacamten) in patients with symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM) over up to five years.

EXPLORER-LTE is a single-arm, open-label extension of the Phase 3 EXPLORER-HCM study, enrolling 231 patients from the United States, Europe, and Israel. At 252 weeks, patients showed mean reductions from baseline of 38.7 mm Hg in resting left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) gradient and 55.6 mm Hg in Valsalva LVOT gradient. Nearly all patients (97.4%) achieved a Valsalva LVOT gradient at or below 30 mm Hg, the clinical threshold for obstruction. Additionally, 69.6% of patients improved by at least one New York Heart Association functional class, and 59.2% were asymptomatic. Mean left ventricular ejection fraction decreased by 10.2% but remained within the normal range. No new safety signals were identified beyond those seen in the primary EXPLORER-HCM study.

"The EXPLORER-LTE data up to five years reflect the sustained and clinically meaningful effects of Camzyos for patients living with symptomatic oHCM," said Anjali T. Owens, MD, of the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine.

Bristol Myers Squibb also presented data from COLLIGO-HCM, a global retrospective real-world study, and a German observational registry analysis, both reporting effectiveness and safety results consistent with clinical trial findings. A separate healthcare resource utilization study conducted in Sweden examined the broader disease burden of oHCM.

Camzyos is approved in more than 60 countries and has been prescribed by more than 5,000 healthcare providers to over 25,000 patients in the U.S. The drug carries a boxed warning for risk of heart failure due to systolic dysfunction and is available only through a restricted Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy program.
