Scripps names NBCUniversal veteran to head SMB ad unit
The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ: SSP) has appointed Jen Carfley as head of small and medium business growth and direct response advertising, effective immediately, according to a company statement.
Carfley will lead Scripps' strategy to connect advertisers with its video inventory across local, national, linear and connected TV platforms. Starting next year, she will oversee direct response advertising for the company's ION and Bounce networks. Scripps' existing partner, Marathon Ventures, will continue managing those efforts for Grit, ION Mystery, ION Plus and Laff.
Carfley joins from NBCUniversal, where she served as vice president of the SMB growth team within the advertising and partnerships division. She previously held sales and direct response roles at Sling TV, Dish Media Sales, and Defy Media. At BBC America and BBC World News, she founded and led the performance media division within the ad sales team.
She brings more than 15 years of experience across linear, digital and streaming platforms and will report to Brian Norris, Scripps' chief revenue officer, from a base in New York.
"Her experience across linear and connected TV will help us make Scripps' premium video inventory easier to access and easier to buy," Norris said.
