Aecon Group Inc. (TSX: ARE) announced that ONxpress Civils Contractor General Partnership, a 50/50 joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada, has executed alliance contracts with Metrolinx for the GO Expansion rail transit project in Ontario.

Aecon will add $649 million to its Construction segment backlog in the third quarter of 2026. An additional $65 million, representing the balance of Aecon's share, was added to backlog in the second quarter of 2026.

The contracts follow the completion of collaborative development work and will be executed under a target price model. Metrolinx is the project owner, and ONxpress serves as the construction partner responsible for project delivery.

Construction has begun at Durham College Oshawa GO Station, along with civil work, track improvements, and enhancements along the Lakeshore East line.

According to the press release, Jean-Louis Servranckx, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aecon Group, described the GO Expansion program as "one of the largest infrastructure investments in Canada."

Aecon previously delivered three light rail transit systems in Ontario, including the Waterloo LRT, Finch West LRT, and Eglinton Crosstown LRT. The company is also involved in several other ongoing transit projects across Ontario, British Columbia, and Quebec.
