Charles Schwab to add solana, avalanche, and chainlink to crypto platform

August 27, 2026 9:17 AM

Charles Schwab announced plans to add three cryptocurrencies to its Schwab Crypto™ platform: Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), and Chainlink (LINK). The tokens are expected to be available for clients to buy and sell in the coming months, according to a company statement.

Schwab Crypto, which began rolling out to clients in May 2026, currently offers direct trading access to bitcoin and ethereum. The platform is offered through Charles Schwab Premier Bank, SSB, a subsidiary of The Charles Schwab Corporation (NYSE: SCHW).

"With this expansion, clients will have more choices to build a digital asset allocation alongside the investing and banking experience they know and trust at Schwab," said Joe Vietri, Head of Digital Assets at Charles Schwab.

The platform charges 75 basis points on the dollar value of each trade. Schwab Crypto accounts are available in most U.S. states, with the exception of New York and Louisiana, and are not available in U.S. territories or international jurisdictions.

Schwab stated it plans to add additional cryptocurrencies and digital assets to the platform over time, though it noted it may delay, modify, or withdraw support for any announced asset based on market, regulatory, operational, or risk-related developments.

Cryptocurrencies offered through the platform are not FDIC insured, are not deposits, and are not protected by SIPC.
