Qatar and Iran discuss temporary Strait of Hormuz corridor plan

Investing.com -- Qatar and Iran held talks on a proposed phased framework that includes creating a temporary joint shipping corridor with Oman through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Qatar's foreign ministry.

The discussions took place during a visit to Tehran by Qatar's prime minister on Thursday.

The two countries also discussed an agreement to implement a joint project to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz, Qatar's foreign ministry said.

Qatar and Iran reviewed efforts to reduce regional tensions and create conditions for dialogue, the ministry added.
