U.S. powerboat registrations drop 10.1% in July, worsening trend says Raymond James.

The analyst comments "While demand across the domestic marine industry remains soft here in 2026, trends appear to have deteriorated in July as U.S. powerboat registrations (SSI) fell 10.1% y/y for the month; this compares with the 3.0% decline we saw in June and brings the YTD drop to 4.3%. As a result, while we’re now well into the selling season, demand is tracking modestly worse than what we believe is the general market expectation for this year of down low-single digits. Aluminum boat sales remained relatively better, down 6.7% y/y in July (-2.1% YTD), with aluminum fish down 1.1% y/y (+2.3% YTD), while pontoons fell 11.0% y/y (-5.9% YTD). In contrast, the fiberglass side remains more challenged, down 15.3% y/y in July (-7.6% YTD). Within fiberglass, the ski/wake segment (relevant for Malibu and MasterCraft) fell 6.1% y/y (-7.0% YTD). Registrations for other fiberglass sterndrive/inboard boats were broadly negative, as the high volume 14-30 foot segment declined 18.2% y/ y (-13.2% YTD), while the 31-40 foot segment was down 11.4% y/y (-4.7% YTD). At the same time, the 41-65 foot segment decreased 29.0% y/ y (-25.6% YTD), while the lower volume 66+ foot segment was down 46.7% y/y (-50.0% YTD). Finally, the fiberglass outboard segment (relevant for Brunswick) was down 17.0% y/y for the month (-6.7% YTD)."
