Shoals Technologies Group (Nasdaq: SHLS) was awarded more than $96 million in damages after a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina found that Voltage, LLC and Ningbo Voltage Smart Production Co. willfully infringed Shoals' patents.

The jury rejected Voltage's challenges to the validity of Shoals' patents. The court indicated it will grant a preliminary injunction barring the manufacture, distribution, or sale of Voltage's LYNX product in the United States. The damages award may be further increased at the court's discretion given the willfulness finding.

The verdict follows a separate ruling by the International Trade Commission (ITC) in June, which found that Voltage's LYNX product infringed Shoals' patents related to its Big Lead Assembly products and barred importation of those products. The Presidential Review Period for the ITC determination has lapsed without intervention, finalizing that ruling.

Shoals, based in Portland, Tenn., manufactures electrical infrastructure solutions for utility-scale solar, battery storage, and data center power systems. The company was founded in 1996.
