AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV) has received a $51 million delivery order from the U.S. Army for Switchblade® 600 loitering munition systems, according to a company press release.

The order includes Switchblade 600 Block 2 systems for the Army and Switchblade 600 Block 1 systems to support a Foreign Military Sale to an unnamed U.S. ally. It was awarded under the Army's existing five-year, $990 million Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for Lethal Unmanned Systems, originally issued in August 2024.

Since 2025, the Switchblade 600 has been fielded across more than 20 brigade combat teams, with hundreds of U.S. soldiers trained on the system.

The Switchblade 600 Block 2 was developed in collaboration with U.S. Special Operations Command and incorporates upgraded avionics, advanced automatic target recognition, and integrated communications systems including Silvus MANET radios. The system is designed to operate in GPS-challenged and contested environments.
