Banco Azteca deploys UiPath to orchestrate 8,800 enterprise processes

Banco Azteca, one of Mexico's largest financial institutions, has expanded its automation program using UiPath (NYSE: PATH) Maestro, coordinating more than 8,800 enterprise processes and more than 300 automations across its operations, according to a statement from UiPath.

The bank, a subsidiary of Group Elektra, began its automation program in 2020 and established an internal AI and robotic process automation (RPA) Center of Excellence. The program is staffed by more than 20 developers, business analysts, and data scientists. The bank says the scale of its automated processes is equivalent to more than 3,300 full-time employees.

The orchestration platform spans compliance, fraud prevention, legal, procurement, human resources, customer service, and social media functions. Using a single operating model, Banco Azteca coordinates people, AI agents, systems, and third-party partners across these functions.

One application involves post-sales operations for elektra.mx, the e-commerce platform of Group Elektra. The orchestrated workflow handles cancellation, delivery, and order-related requests, managing communications with third-party sellers and routing exceptions to employees only when human judgment is required.

"Business orchestration allows us to connect people, AI, systems, and partners so work keeps moving while our teams stay focused on higher-value decisions," said Manuel Delgado, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Customer Service at Banco Azteca.

Banco Azteca said it plans to extend the model into anti-money laundering initiatives and intelligent ATM monitoring, including optimizing cash distribution based on customer demand.
