Einride AB (Nasdaq: ENRD) announced an expansion of its electric freight partnership with grocery retailer Lidl in Sweden, according to a company press release. The agreement is expected to increase annual electric freight volumes from 474,000 to 832,000 kilometers, nearly doubling the scope of the existing arrangement.

Einride has operated electric freight for Lidl in Stockholm since 2020. The expanded partnership will extend transport coverage to longer-haul routes across Värmland, Östergötland, Mälardalen, Dalarna, and parts of Västergötland and Småland.

The partnership operates under Einride's Freight Capacity-as-a-Service model, which combines electric trucks and charging infrastructure with its AI-powered planning platform, Saga AI. The company states the platform is designed to reduce the number of vehicles required, lower energy consumption, and cut overall transport costs.

"Einride has been a reliable partner in our work to electrify freight in Sweden. Since we started working with them in Stockholm, we've seen that electric transport can be both operationally efficient and cost-competitive," said Rasmus Laursen, Head of Logistics at Lidl SE. "This expansion lets us bring that same model to more regions and it is a clear step forward in our commitment to sustainable supply chains."

Einride was founded in Stockholm in 2016 and serves customers across North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
