AeroVironment plans $100M campus consolidation in Moorpark, California

August 24, 2026 1:00 PM

AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV) announced a planned $100 million investment in a company-owned campus on approximately 20 acres in Moorpark, California, according to a press release from the defense technology company.

The campus will consolidate five leased Southern California locations into a single facility, bringing together research, engineering, design, prototyping, and production operations. AeroVironment closed on the primary property during its fiscal second quarter.

Renovation and construction activities are expected to begin in fiscal 2028, with employee transitions occurring in phases. The campus is expected to be fully operational in 2029. The investment is included in AeroVironment's planned capital expenditures within its previously issued fiscal 2027 guidance.

"This infrastructure investment reaffirms AV's enduring commitment to California, where the company was founded more than five decades ago," said Wahid Nawabi, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. "We are reinvesting in labs, lines and people."

Chief Operating Officer Rob Smith said the unified campus is intended to reduce operational friction across multiple locations. "This is about how fast we can move from an idea to getting a system in the hands of the warfighter, and how much more capability we can deliver," Smith said.

Research and development, engineering, design, and production are expected to remain core elements of the company's California operations. AeroVironment said the Moorpark campus complements its broader national manufacturing network.
