Strategy adds USD Cash pool, holds 840,447 bitcoin as of Aug. 23
Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) announced on August 24, 2026, the creation of a new liquidity component called "USD Cash" within its Digital Credit Capital Framework, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The USD Cash pool is a separately designated reserve of U.S. dollar liquidity that management may deploy for purposes including acquiring bitcoin, paying preferred stock dividends and debt interest, repurchasing stock, and repaying convertible notes. The company said the pool is intended to give management more flexibility to respond to market conditions, including dislocations in bitcoin or securities markets. The existing USD Reserve policy remains unchanged and continues to be designated specifically for preferred stock dividends and interest payments.
As of August 23, 2026, Strategy reported a USD Reserve balance of $5.10 billion and a USD Cash balance of $1.59 billion. Both figures include expected cash proceeds from shares sold under the company's at-the-market offering program that had not yet settled.
During the period from August 17 to August 23, 2026, Strategy sold 18,261,118 shares of MSTR Class A common stock through its ATM program, generating net proceeds of approximately $2.01 billion. Of those proceeds, $136.4 million was used to repurchase STRC preferred stock, $300.0 million was used to increase the USD Reserve, and the remainder was added to the USD Cash account. No shares of preferred stock were sold during the period.
Strategy also reported that it made no bitcoin purchases or sales during the week. As of August 23, 2026, the company held 840,447 bitcoin, acquired at an aggregate purchase price of approximately $63.36 billion, at an average price of $75,385 per bitcoin.
During the same period, Strategy repurchased 1,431,212 shares of STRC preferred stock for $136.4 million under its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program. As of the filing date, $516.6 million remained available under that program, and $1.0 billion remained available under a separate MSTR Stock repurchase program.
