AEG and Archer plan first downtown Los Angeles vertiport at L.A. LIVE

August 24, 2026 8:05 AM

AEG and Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR) have announced a multi-year partnership to develop a vertiport at L.A. LIVE, AEG's four-million-square-foot sports and entertainment district in downtown Los Angeles, according to a press release from the companies.

The agreement, brokered by AEG Global Partnerships, designates Archer as the exclusive air taxi partner of L.A. LIVE. The planned site would be the first vertiport in downtown Los Angeles and would add to Archer's previously announced Los Angeles air taxi network, which also includes planned locations at SoFi Stadium, USC, and Hollywood Burbank, with Hawthorne Airport serving as its central operational hub.

AEG and Archer have completed an initial feasibility study for the site, covering land-use and airspace reviews, power availability, and community impact. A second phase reviewing the operational approach and guest experience is currently underway. The site is planned to use BETA Technologies' electric aviation chargers through the ACES consortium, which aims to build standardized charging infrastructure across 250 aviation sites in the Americas by 2030.

The partnership is connected to Archer's role as the Official Air Taxi Provider of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA. The downtown Los Angeles zone is set to host 18 sports across the Games.

Archer's Midnight aircraft is designed for point-to-point urban air travel and produces zero operating emissions. The company states the aircraft generates less noise than a traditional helicopter and is built with redundant systems targeting safety levels comparable to commercial airliners.

"We are thrilled to pursue this endeavor with Archer to enhance the fan experience around the major sports and live-entertainment events we host," said Nick Baker, President and Chief Operating Officer of AEG Global Partnerships.

To mark the announcement, Archer displayed its Midnight aircraft in Team USA livery at L.A. LIVE on Aug. 24, with the display open to the public through Aug. 25.
