Alaska Airlines announced plans to launch nonstop seasonal service from Seattle to Athens and Paris beginning in May 2027, according to a company press release.

The Seattle-Athens route (flight AS196) will begin May 12, 2027, operating three times weekly through October 2027 using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Alaska Airlines claims this will be the first-ever nonstop service between Seattle and Athens, and the only nonstop West Coast flight to the Greek capital. The route would also become the longest Alaska Airlines has ever flown.

Service to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (flight AS136) will begin May 25, 2027, operating five times weekly through October 2027, also on the Boeing 787-9. Alaska Airlines states it will become the first oneworld alliance carrier to offer nonstop service between the West Coast and Paris on this route.

Introductory roundtrip fares in Main Cabin start at $999, available for purchase through August 26.

Both routes will feature lie-flat business class suites, curated dining and Starlink Wi-Fi for Atmos Rewards members. The flights will operate from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, which Alaska Airlines describes as its largest hub, where it currently offers more than 360 peak-day departures to 110 nonstop destinations.

With the additions of Athens and Paris, Alaska Airlines will serve seven intercontinental destinations from Seattle by summer 2027, joining existing nonstop service to Reykjavik, London, Rome, Seoul and Tokyo. The airline states it plans to add at least five more intercontinental destinations by 2030.

Alaska Airlines also announced a multi-season marketing partnership with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold to promote the new routes.
