Sunshine Biopharma Inc. (NASDAQ: SBFM) has received Canadian regulatory approval for generic Enalapril tablets in four dosage strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg, according to a company press release.

Enalapril is the generic equivalent of the brand-name drug Vasotec and belongs to the ACE inhibitor class of medications used to treat hypertension, heart failure, and left ventricular dysfunction. The company expects to begin shipping the tablets to Canadian pharmacies by the end of 2026.

Distribution will be handled through Nora Pharma Inc., Sunshine Biopharma's wholly owned Canadian subsidiary. The company currently markets 60 generic prescription drugs in Canada.

The global anti-hypertensive drug market was valued at $25.94 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $37.24 billion by 2034, at a compound annual growth rate of 4.1%, according to BioSpace. The Canadian pharmaceutical market represents approximately 2.1% of the global pharmaceutical market, ranking sixth worldwide, according to IQVIA Pharmafocus 2028.
