Wiley launches spectral analysis API portfolio for labs
Wiley (NYSE: WLY) announced the launch of a spectral analysis application programming interface (API) portfolio, giving laboratories, instrument vendors, and software platforms direct access to its spectral reference data and analytical tools within their own workflows.
The portfolio launches with four capabilities: a Spectral Database Search API for compound identification, a Spectrum-Structure Validation API for confirming chemical structures against spectral data, a Compound Classification API for classifying unknown substances including drugs, and a Spectra Prediction API for generating predicted spectra.
Wiley's spectral reference databases are used across pharmaceuticals, forensics, environmental science, chemicals, food, and materials fields. The new APIs are designed to integrate that data into automated, software-driven lab environments.
"Speed matters when you're trying to identify an unknown substance; a delayed analysis can mean an assembly line sitting idle or a forensic lab holding up a case," said Armughan Rafat, Wiley senior vice president and chief AI and data services officer. "We've spent decades building the reference data this industry trusts. Now, by making that spectral data and analytical intelligence available through APIs, we're setting the standard for how labs and vendors turn unknowns into answers faster and at scale."
The APIs support analytical techniques including infrared, mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, and Raman spectroscopy. According to the company, the portfolio is vendor-neutral and supports multi-technique workflows and regulatory compliance.
