ChargePoint installs overhead EV chargers at Portland airport
ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT) has deployed a fast-charging system at Portland International Airport's (PDX) Quick Turnaround Facility, featuring 10 dual-port overhead-mounted dispensers with retractable cable management capable of charging up to 20 vehicles simultaneously.
The installation moves charging infrastructure above ground level, reducing conduit and wiring requirements and limiting exposure to vehicle damage. The system is integrated with ChargePoint's fleet software, which provides remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and charging management tools for rental car operators.
"The Port of Portland's investment at PDX demonstrates how fast charging can integrate into existing parking lots without sacrifices for equipment placement," said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint.
Jeremiah Hartley, Airport Rental Car Manager at Portland International Airport, said the overhead design helped reduce installation costs and protects equipment from potential vehicle damage in the facility.
The deployment is based on a press release from ChargePoint and covers infrastructure serving rental car fleets at the airport. The company, founded in 2007, operates across North America and Europe and reports connections to over 1.4 million public and private charging ports worldwide.
