Commvault expands Azure coverage in Cloud Rewind recovery tool
Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT) announced expansions to its Cloud Rewind product, broadening Microsoft Azure resource coverage for configuration protection and recovery, according to a company press release dated Aug. 18, 2026.
The update expands Azure protection by three times, with the company stating Cloud Rewind now covers 62% of enterprise-relevant Azure resource types. The expanded Azure protection is targeted for availability in the coming months, while the current version of Cloud Rewind is available now as an add-on workload within Commvault Cloud. Pricing is metered based on protected cloud resources.
Cloud Rewind continuously discovers cloud resources, maps application dependencies, and orchestrates recovery and rebuild of cloud applications from a single platform. Organizations can validate recovery readiness through application recovery simulations, including within isolated, air-gapped environments, before an incident occurs.
Additional enhancements include Protection Groups, which combine application data and cloud configuration into a single recovery experience, and policy-based protection that automatically enrolls discovered resources by tag, region, and type across multiple cloud environments.
According to Absolute Security's 2026 State of Enterprise Cyber Resilience report, 57% of enterprises said recovery from a cyberattack took more than 4.5 days on average.

"Cloud Rewind helps organizations recover cloud applications through a unified experience in Commvault Cloud, increasing customers' confidence in their ability to recover following a cyberattack or outage."
Melinda Marks, Senior Research Director and Chief Analyst at Omdia, noted that many organizations discover their recovery plan is incomplete only after an incident has occurred, adding that organizations need an effective way to rapidly recover across configurations, dependencies, and multiple cloud platforms.
