Global debt issuance falls 16% in latest week, Goldman says
Investing.com -- Global debt issuance volumes fell 16% year-over-year for the week of August 10, 2026, according to Goldman Sachs. Year-to-date issuance showed 9% growth.
Corporate investment grade issuance rose 60% year-over-year during the week, while high yield issuance dropped 41%. Leveraged loan issuance declined 88% compared to the same week last year.
Financial institutions issuance grew 38% year-over-year, while structured finance issuance decreased 64% for the week.
Period average assets under management for S&P index-linked exchange-traded funds increased 32% year-over-year for the week of August 10. S&P Global ESG ETF assets under management rose 16%. MSCI index-linked ETF assets under management expanded 36%, with MSCI ESG ETF assets up 21%.
Trading volumes for S&P-linked exchange traded derivatives across CBOE and CME exchanges fell 8% year-over-year for the week. MSCI-linked exchange traded derivative volumes across Eurex and ICE exchanges grew 3%.
The total number of global funds increased 7% year-over-year for the week of August 10, while global fund formation declined 65%. The total number of ESG funds expanded 3%, with no global ESG fund formation recorded during the week.
