Willdan Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: WLDN) has acquired substantially all of the assets of KCS Corporation, an engineering consulting firm headquartered in suburban Chicago, Illinois, according to a company press release.

KCS, founded in 1999, specializes in power delivery engineering for critical infrastructure, including substations, transmission lines, wind farms, utility-scale solar, battery storage, and data center backup power. The firm's 15-person team will join Willdan's APG group.

Mike Bieber, Willdan's CEO, said the two companies had previously collaborated on substation and renewables projects. "Their addition further strengthens our in-house capabilities and allows our combined team to more efficiently execute on our power project pipeline," he said.

Seemesh M. Sethi, president of KCS, said the acquisition creates opportunities for continued business growth. "Bringing our capabilities together will allow us to offer our clients a broader range of engineering services while maintaining the personalized approach that has been central to KCS," he said.

Willdan, based in Anaheim, California, provides technical services including energy planning, engineering, consulting, and program implementation to utilities, governments, and commercial customers across the United States and Canada.
