VinFast outlines ADAS roadmap and break-even target for Vietnam

August 17, 2026 7:01 AM

VinFast (NASDAQ: VFS) outlined its driver-assistance technology plans and financial targets at the Bloomberg Sustainable Business Summit, with a Vingroup executive describing a phased approach to expanding vehicle automation capabilities.

Anne Pham, Vingroup's Head of International Capital Development, said VinFast's current vehicle lineup operates at Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which includes adaptive cruise control and lane-centering. The company plans to advance to L2+/L2++ capability in its next generation of models, with each phase tied to safety validation rather than fixed launch dates.

On manufacturing, Pham pointed to production facilities VinFast has established in India and Indonesia, in addition to its home base in Vietnam, saying these sites "could be positioned as export hubs in the future." She described localization as a response to tariff exposure and supply chain risk.

Regarding the U.S. market, Pham said, "VinFast currently has sales in various parts of the world, including North America and the United States," adding that "our U.S. sales plans remain on course."

Pham also stated that VinFast is "on track to break even in Vietnam by 2027."

The press release cited the International Energy Agency's Global EV Outlook 2026, which noted that VinFast is among automakers building manufacturing capacity across emerging economies. It also referenced independent analysis from Wood Mackenzie projecting EVs growing from roughly 4% of the global vehicle fleet to 25% by 2040.
