Enphase Energy (NASDAQ: ENPH) announced the availability of its home energy platform in Italy, combining solar, storage, backup power, and electric vehicle charging in a single system.

The expansion introduces the IQ System Controller 3, which allows Italian homeowners with existing IQ Battery 5P systems to add home backup capability for the first time, including three-phase backup. The product supports loads of up to 80 A per phase and meets the CEI 0-21 interconnection standard through an external grid-protection relay. During a grid outage, the controller disconnects the home from the grid and allows the solar and battery system to continue powering selected circuits.

The IQ EV Charger 2, available across Europe since July 2026, is also now offered in Italy. The charger can operate as a standalone unit or paired with an Enphase solar and battery system, drawing from surplus solar production beginning at approximately 1.4 kW. Homeowners using third-party solar can enable the same functionality by adding a consumption meter.

The launch follows grid stress in Italy during the summer of 2026. National grid operator Terna recorded a demand peak of 55 GW on June 23, 2026, up 4.4% from the prior week, as a heatwave caused power cuts in Turin, Milan, Naples, and Rome. Grid distributor E-Distribuzione has committed €2.8 billion to infrastructure upgrades in response to such conditions.

Italy is also expected to introduce the Bonus Colonnine 2026, a government incentive that may cover up to 80% of the cost of purchasing and installing a home EV charger. Final terms and eligibility are subject to implementing decrees.

The products are available through Enphase-certified installers in Italy.
