Chipotle opens first Saudi Arabia location in Riyadh with Alshaya
Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) is set to open its first restaurant in Saudi Arabia later this month at the Sidra dining destination in Riyadh, near Granada Mall, in partnership with franchise operator Alshaya Group.
The opening marks Chipotle's entry into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and adds to the chain's existing Middle East footprint. Since 2024, Chipotle has opened 16 restaurants across the region with Alshaya Group, including seven in the United Arab Emirates, seven in Kuwait, and two in Qatar.
Nate Lawton, Chief Business Development Officer at Chipotle, said: "Expanding into the Kingdom advances our international growth strategy and provides a compelling opportunity to serve one of the Middle East's most dynamic consumer markets."
Jeff Kellen, President of the Hospitality division at Alshaya Group, said: "Since its launch in the region over two years ago, Chipotle has surpassed all expectations to become one of our most loved brands."
Chipotle currently operates more than 4,200 restaurants worldwide, with company-owned locations in Canada, the U.K., France, and Germany, in addition to its franchised Middle East presence. The company recently entered Mexico through a partnership with Alsea, opening its first restaurant in Nuevo León.
Chipotle expects to open between 350 and 370 new restaurants in 2026 and has set a long-term target of operating 7,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
