Astrotech Corporation (Nasdaq: ASTC) announced the formation of a Strategic Advisory Board with four initial members to support its lunar resources and infrastructure initiative and a planned proposal under NASA's NextSTEP-3 Appendix A: Lunar Enabling Infrastructure Accelerator solicitation.

The four appointed advisors are Dennis Wingo, co-founder and chief technology officer of SpaceBilt; retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. John M. Olson, Ph.D., chairman and chief executive of AXIONS Corporation; Clive R. Neal, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Notre Dame and two-time chair of NASA's Lunar Exploration Analysis Group; and Gregory R. Baiden, Ph.D., chief executive of Penguin Automated Systems Inc.

The board is expected to provide guidance on technology priorities, partnerships, mission architectures and commercialization pathways in areas including lunar resource mining, autonomous surface operations, materials processing, power systems, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

Astrotech announced its lunar initiative in May 2026 and submitted a proposal to NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services 2 program in June 2026. NASA issued a draft broad agency announcement for the LEIA program in June 2026 covering surface power, radioisotope power, in-situ resource utilization, in-space advanced manufacturing and nanomaterials.

The company stated that neither its CLPS2 submission nor its planned Appendix A proposal constitutes a NASA selection, award, contract, funding commitment, or endorsement. The company also noted that development of its lunar initiative is contingent on securing appropriate financing.

Advisory board members will serve in a non-employee, non-director capacity. Astrotech said it expects to add further advisors as the initiative develops.
