Founder Group wins $1.4M solar contract for Kedah shrimp farm
Founder Group Limited (NASDAQ: FGL) said its subsidiary Founder Energy Sdn Bhd has signed a turn-key engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract to build a 1.78 MW rooftop solar system for a shrimp farming and processing facility in Ayer Hitam, Kedah, Malaysia.
The contract is valued at approximately RM5.58 million (US$1.37 million), according to a company statement. The system is designed with a 25-year operational life and will supply electricity directly to the facility's agricultural operations.
The company described the project as its second solar contract in the aquaculture sector, following an earlier shrimp farm project in Terengganu. The Kedah project is noted as the first to combine an integrated shrimp farm with a processing plant.
Under the contract, Founder Energy will manage structural integrity assessments and coordinate grid connection with Malaysia's national utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad. The project will also comply with FM Global standards.
"Following our entry into aquaculture contract based in Terengganu, this second contract confirms that our solar technology is repeatable and on demand across this sector," said Lee Seng Chi, chief executive officer of Founder Group Limited.
Founder Group said it also offers long-term operations and maintenance services using what it describes as proprietary AI-driven technology, including automated diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and drone-assisted inspections.
