S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) announced an expanded collaboration with Microsoft to integrate its data, insights, and analytics into Microsoft 365 Copilot workflows, according to a company press release dated Aug. 12, 2026.

The integration builds on an existing connection of S&P Global Energy AI Ready Data in Microsoft 365 Copilot and is enabled by the S&P Global AI Data Portal's Deterministic Retrieval solution, also known as the Kensho LLM-ready API. The tool allows Microsoft 365 Copilot to access S&P Global content with cited and verifiable results.

Licensed S&P Global content will be connected to Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences, including a Copilot in Excel connector for analyst workflows and a plugin for agentic experiences in Copilot Cowork. Customers will be able to use S&P Global data for company research, financial analysis, transcript intelligence, peer benchmarking, and competitive analysis within Microsoft 365.

Bill Borden, Corporate Vice President of Worldwide Financial Services at Microsoft, said the integration brings "the power of data and AI into the flow of work, helping financial institutions make faster, more confident decisions with transparency, context and traceability at every step."

Key capabilities include data connectivity and governance within Microsoft AI experiences, S&P Global intelligence integrated into Excel modeling and reporting, multi-step analysis within Microsoft 365, and industry-specific use cases covering financial and energy analysis.

The announcement follows S&P Global's previously disclosed evolution of its Market Intelligence operating model, which combines data, AI, software, and workflow capabilities. It also reflects the role of the newly formed Kensho Data Platforms vertical, which supports client interfaces including Capital IQ Pro.
