Aclarion, Inc. (Nasdaq: ACON, ACONW) announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a Notice of Allowance for a patent application titled "Multi-Voxel Prescription for Lumbar Disc Evaluation," according to a company press release dated Aug. 12, 2026.

The patent covers methods and systems for precisely positioning MR Spectroscopy sampling locations within lumbar discs during scan setup. The technology is designed to display both planned and shifted voxel locations during scan prescription, reducing trial-and-error in voxel positioning and lowering the likelihood of repeat scans due to suboptimal placement.

The patent addresses a technical challenge in MRS-based disc evaluation: different chemical shifts can correspond to different physical sampling locations, making it critical that scans do not extend beyond the disc boundary and capture adjacent tissue or endplate lipid signals.

"Better data in means better data out," said Brent Ness, Chief Executive Officer of Aclarion. "By reducing the challenges of voxel positioning and lowering the risk of repeat scans, this patent has the potential to improve the efficiency of the Nociscan experience for imaging technologists and patients alike."

Once formally issued, the patent would extend Aclarion's intellectual property into the MRS scan-prescription stage. The company states its portfolio currently encompasses more than 65 issued and pending patents worldwide, covering spectroscopy acquisition, data processing, biomarkers, and analytics.

Aclarion's Nociscan platform analyzes chemical shifts in intervertebral discs to help physicians identify sources of chronic low back pain in the lumbar spine.
