Comscore plans restructuring with $20M-$25M in cost cuts

August 11, 2026 4:07 PM

Comscore, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCOR) announced a restructuring plan it calls its ROI Strategy, which includes workforce reductions expected to generate between $20 million and $25 million in annual run-rate cost savings.

The Reston, Va.-based media measurement company said the one-time costs associated with the plan, consisting primarily of severance, termination benefits and other employee compensation-related costs, are estimated to range between $7 million and $9 million. The company expects to see the financial impact of the restructuring during fiscal 2027.

The plan centers on three objectives: realigning the business, optimizing operations and investing in future growth. Specific measures include expanding the use of offshore resources, streamlining legacy business costs, rationalizing its international commercial footprint and shifting product development toward scalable solutions rather than custom work.

CEO Matt McLaughlin, who said he has spent time evaluating the business since taking the leadership role, stated: "Comscore has tremendous assets, intelligent algorithms and long-standing client relationships, but we are not yet organized or focused in the way required to fully leverage that value. The issue is not effort. The issue is focus, accountability, scalability and investment capacity."

McLaughlin noted the company plans to use a portion of the savings to hire key leaders and invest in continuing employees, along with other transformation initiatives. Areas identified for future investment include cross-platform intelligence, creator and AI solutions, infrastructure and talent.
