Humana Healthy Horizons in Indiana, the Medicaid managed care plan of Humana (NYSE: HUM), is collaborating with HealthStream (Nasdaq: HSTM) to address caregiver shortages in Indiana's home care sector, according to a press release from the companies.

Humana is sponsoring 1,000 Home Health Aide scholarships through HealthStream's Career Network platform, myCNAjobs.com, with a focus on rural and underserved communities. The scholarship program is part of a broader initiative launched in 2024 that was originally developed with MissionCare Collective, which HealthStream acquired in December 2025.

Home care providers face an average annual turnover rate of 77%. The companies cite research indicating that trained home care aides are more than twice as likely to remain employed after three months and 64% more likely to remain employed after six months compared with workers who did not receive similar training.

The collaboration also includes access to HealthStream's CoachUp Care application, which provides workforce engagement technology and predictive analytics to identify at-risk staff, along with education programs focused on caregiver retention.

Initial results from Humana's use of CoachUp Care show that 81% of participating providers achieved higher-than-average caregiver retention, with a 43% average increase in retention among providers that improved, and 86% workforce engagement among caregivers.
