Beamr reports 17% revenue drop, widens loss in first half 2026
Beamr Imaging Ltd. (NASDAQ: BMR) reported a 17% decline in revenue for the first half of 2026, with sales falling to $0.9 million from $1.07 million in the same period a year earlier, according to a shareholder letter issued by Chief Executive Officer Sharon Carmel.
The company attributed the revenue decrease primarily to a one-time proof-of-concept payment recognized during 2025 that did not recur. Net loss widened to $4.4 million, or $0.28 per basic share, for the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared to a net loss of $3.2 million, or $0.21 per share, in the same period of 2025.
Operating expenses rose across research and development and sales and marketing. R&D spending increased 29% to $2.6 million, driven by higher personnel costs and contractor fees. Selling and marketing expenses rose 38% to $1.4 million, reflecting additional sales and engineering staff. General and administrative costs fell 12% to $1.08 million. Beamr ended the second quarter with $7.7 million in cash, cash equivalents, and deposits.
On the business side, Beamr said it has begun its first structured engagement with a global autonomous vehicle program. The company's machine-learning-safe video compression technology became available in July through the RTMaps AI Store of Intempora, a dSPACE company. Beamr also conducted a joint demonstration with VAST Data at GTC 2026, and introduced a consulting and services offering called Beamr Blueprint aimed at autonomous vehicle Tier-1 suppliers and car manufacturers.
In its media and entertainment segment, Beamr previously announced that JioHotstar, a streaming platform with more than 450 million subscribers, uses its Content-Adaptive Bitrate technology. The company launched a subjective quality testing system called VISTA in April 2026 and announced a live sports video solution combining Nvidia Video Super Resolution with its compression technology, to be demonstrated at IBC 2026.
