MaxLinear launches RackCommander portfolio for AI rack management
MaxLinear, Inc. (NASDAQ: MXL) has introduced RackCommander, a portfolio of semiconductor products targeting rack-level control-plane architectures for AI, cloud, enterprise, and edge infrastructure, according to a company press release.
The portfolio brings together USB-UART solutions, RS-485 transceivers, GPIO expanders, power management, and power protection technologies. It builds on MaxLinear's previously announced Coronado and Laguna USB-UART products and is designed to support console access, infrastructure communications, monitoring, and power management across rack-scale systems.
Specific products in the portfolio include the Coronado (MxL81424), Laguna (MxL81108), and Carmel (MxL81434) USB-UART devices; the MxL83214 RS-485 transceiver; I²C and SPI GPIO expanders; MxL745950 and MxL745951P eFuses; and MxL76502, MxL76503, MxL76505, and MxL76508 step-down regulators.
WPI Group is cited as a partner on the portfolio. "As AI infrastructure evolves toward rack-scale architectures, customers are looking for proven technologies that accelerate development and deployment while simplifying management of increasingly complex AI infrastructure," said Jack Tu, Senior Vice President and Chief Product Marketing Officer of WPI Group.
Amit D. Bavisi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of MaxLinear's Analog Mixed-Signal Business Unit, said the portfolio addresses a shift in infrastructure management: "Future AI racks must securely connect compute nodes, power shelves, cooling systems, sensors, and service processors into a unified management domain."
The press release references third-party projections estimating datacenter semiconductor revenue will reach approximately $843 billion by 2030, though MaxLinear states it has not independently verified this figure.
MaxLinear plans to present RackCommander at the OCP APAC Summit on August 11–12, 2026, at Booth PL33.
