Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE: NET) announced that its Cloudflare for Government platform has received Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) High certification and GovRAMP Moderate authorization, allowing the company to serve federal, state, and local government agencies with higher-sensitivity data workloads.

The FedRAMP High certification permits agencies to process High Impact data, which includes information tied to national security, critical infrastructure, and financial systems. Cloudflare said it processes this data within an authorized U.S. boundary across 15 metro areas. The GovRAMP Moderate authorization allows state and local governments to use the platform for sensitive workloads subject to state-specific data privacy requirements.

Cloudflare also stated its intent to pursue Department of Defense Impact Level 4 (IL4) authorization, which would extend the platform's eligibility to additional defense use cases.

"Federal agencies, the Department of Defense, and highly-regulated organizations face more pressure than ever to modernize technologies, deliver faster, and reduce costs while protecting highly sensitive data from evolving threats," said David Mihalchik, VP of U.S. Public Sector at Cloudflare.

According to the company, more than 100 U.S. government agencies currently use Cloudflare services, including the Departments of Commerce, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Interior, Justice, and State. Cloud platform providers Workday, New Relic, Armis Federal, Darktrace Federal, and GitLab also rely on Cloudflare for Government to serve their government customers.

Cloudflare for Government runs on the same architecture as the company's global network, which spans more than 335 cities in over 125 countries. The platform includes post-quantum cryptography to protect data in transit.
