Core Scientific, Inc. (Nasdaq: CORZ) stated its support for Texas Governor Greg Abbott's push for greater transparency and accountability in data center development, according to a press release from the company.

The company said it welcomes an audit process tied to the governor's initiative and is committed to following any resulting guidance. Core Scientific operates four data centers in Texas and has done so since 2022.

The company stated it pays its own electric and infrastructure costs, uses cooling technology it describes as low in water consumption, and participates in local community initiatives.

"Data centers are key to supporting America's technology leadership, and our industry has an important role to play in working constructively with policymakers, utilities and local communities as that infrastructure expands," said Adam Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer of Core Scientific.

Core Scientific said it supports a framework for data center development that balances the needs of operators, utilities, and the communities they serve. The company also stated that data center operators should be responsible for costs associated with their own infrastructure needs.

Core Scientific operates a total of 11 data center facilities across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Texas. The company derives the majority of its revenue from high-density colocation services for artificial intelligence workloads.
