Conduent Incorporated (Nasdaq: CNDT) has been awarded a contract by the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) to continue operating and modernize the systems supporting Virginia's Medicaid program, according to a press release from the company.

The contract spans up to 14 years, structured as a two-year design and implementation phase, a six-year base term, and six one-year options. It extends a relationship between Conduent and Virginia Medicaid that began in 2001.

Under the agreement, Conduent will deploy its Conduent Medicaid Suite (CMdS) to modernize Virginia's Medicaid Enterprise Systems and Fiscal Agent Services Solution, covering claims processing, finance, call center services, and reporting functions. The company will also implement its cloud-based Conduent CXNow platform, which uses AI and automation to manage customer interactions across phone and chat channels.

DMAS administers Medicaid coverage for approximately 1.6 million Virginians. The contract also includes management of incoming and outgoing mail services supporting the program.

Conduent reported that in 2025 it processed over 454 million Medicaid claims and disbursed approximately $80 billion in government benefit payments across its government solutions business.
